A psychoeducational evaluation is a comprehensive assessment designed to better understand how a child or adolescent learns and functions in academic settings.
This evaluation examines areas such as:
Cognitive abilities (how information is processed)
Academic skills (reading, writing, math)
Attention, executive functioning, and learning behaviors
Social-emotional factors that may impact learning
The purpose is to identify strengths, areas of need, and learning patterns that may be contributing to academic difficulties. Results are summarized in a clear, detailed report that can be shared with families, schools, and other professionals to support educational planning, interventions, or special education considerations.
-
An Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) is an evaluation conducted by a qualified examiner who is not employed by the school district.
IEEs are commonly requested when:
Parents disagree with a school-based evaluation
Additional clarity is needed regarding eligibility or services
A second professional opinion is desired
IEE reports are written to be comprehensive, objective, and suitable for review by school teams. They may be used to inform eligibility decisions, service planning, or educational discussions within the school setting.
-
Consultation services provide families with professional guidance before, during, or after an evaluation.
Consultation may include:
Helping parents understand evaluation results
Explaining school processes such as IEPs or 504 plans
Discussing next steps or intervention options
Supporting collaboration with schools or other providers
Consultation is designed to help families feel informed, prepared, and confident as they navigate educational decisions.
-
Evaluation reports are written with clarity and organization so they can be shared with schools and relevant agencies when appropriate.
Reports may help:
Inform school-based interventions or evaluations
Support discussions related to special education services
Provide objective documentation for educational planning
Contribute to applications or reviews for educational or disability-related programs, including state or federal supports
While eligibility decisions are made by schools or agencies, evaluations provide professional information that can support those processes.
